Lakshmi Mittal is an Indian industrialist and CEO and chairman of Arcelor Mittal, the world's largest steel producer. Although he lives in the United Kingdom, he has not given up his Indian citizenship. He is one of the richest person in India as well as in the world. He holds a 33 percent stake in the Queens Park Rangers Football Club, a professional English football club. In 2007, he was considered the richest Hindu and Asian in Europe. 

Despite being the eighth richest person in Britain in 2002, he is not a British citizen. In 2011, Forbes considered him the sixth richest person in the world, but in March 2015, he fell to number 82.

Since 2008, he has been a member of the 'Board of Directors' of Goldman Sachs. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the World Steel Organization, the Global Advisory Committee to the Prime Minister of India, the Foreign Investment Council of Kazakhstan, the International Trade Committee of the World Economic Forum, and the International Advisory Board to the President of Mozambique. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the US-based Kellogg's School of Management and the 'Board of Trustees' of the Cleveland Clinic.In 2006,

 'The Sunday Times' gave him the 'Business Person of 2006', 'The Financial Times' gave him the 'Person of the Year' and 'Time' magazine honored him as the 'International Newsmaker of the Year 2006'. In 2007, Time magazine placed him in the list of the '100 Most Influential People in the World'.

early life

Lakshmi Niwas Mittal was born on 2 September 1950 in Rajgarh tehsil of Churu district of Rajasthan. His father's name was Mohan Lal Mittal. Lakshmi was born in a joint family and later her family moved to Kolkata. He has two brothers – Pramod Mittal and Vinod Mittal.

Lakshmi Niwas Mittal took education from Shri Daulatram Nopani Vidyalaya from 1957 to 1964. He graduated in Business and Accounting in Commerce from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata (affiliated to the University of Kolkata). His father Mohan Lal Mittal had a steel business – Nippon Denro Ispat.

Due to the control of the production of steel by the Government of India, 26-year-old Lakshmi Niwas Mittal started his first steel factory 'P.T. Ispat Indo' established in Sidorjo, Indonesia. Till the 1990s, the Mittal family had a cold rolling mill of sheet steels in Nagpur and an alloy steel plant near Pune as assets of the Mittal family in India. Today Vinod and Pramod Mittal run the Mittal family business in India (which includes a huge integrated steel plant near Mumbai) but Lakshmi has nothing to do with these businesses.

In March 2008, Forbes magazine named Lakshmi Mittal as the fourth richest person in the world. Lakshmi was said to be the richest man in Asia.

At present Lakshmi Mittal is the CEO and Chairman of Arcelor Mittal Steel Company. Apart from this, he is also a non-executive director of EADS, ICICI Bank and investment banking company Goldman Sachs. In 2008, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Vibhushan.

philanthropic work

In November 2003, he established the 'Mittal Champions Trust' to financially support and encourage talented Indian players. In 2008, when Abhinav Bindra won a gold medal for India in the Olympics, a prize of Rs 1.5 crore was given from this trust. In the 2012 London Olympics, his company 'ArcelorMittal' built 'ArcelorMittal Orbit'.

In the feild of education

In 2003, Lakshmi Niwas Mittal and Usha Mittal Foundation in association with the Government of Rajasthan established 'L.N.M. Established the Institute of Information Technology. It is an autonomous and non-profit organization.

SNDT by Lakshmi Niwas Mittal Foundation. A huge amount was donated to the 'Institute of Technology for Women' of the Women's University, after which the name of the institute was changed to 'Usha Mittal Institute of Technology'.

in the field of health

In 2008, Mittal donated around 15 million British pounds to the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. This donation led to the establishment of a new health facility in the hospital - Mittal Children's Medical Center.

Queens Park Rangers

The Mittal family owns a 33 per cent stake in the professional English football club 'Queens Park Rangers F.C.'. This investment was done under the supervision of Mittal's son-in-law Amit Bhatia.

private life

Lakshmi Mittal's current residence is 18-19 Kenningston Palace Gardens in London. He bought this property from Formula One owner Bernie Ecclestone in 2004 for about 12 million US dollars. In its time it was the most expensive house in the world. Marble of the same quarry has been used to decorate this house, from where marble was brought to build the Taj Mahal.

In 2008, in the marriage of his daughter Vanisha, he also gifted a house in London, which was worth about 70 million British pounds.

In 2005, he bought a property on APJ Abdul Kalam Marg in New Delhi, the capital of India, which was worth 30 million US dollars.
