According to the report, he has been appointed as the new trustee of PM Cares Fund. Along with Ratan Tata, former Supreme Court Justice KT Thomas and former Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha Kariya Munda have been made trustees of PM Cares Fund.

Former CAG Rajiv Mehrishi, former Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murthy, Indicorps and Piramal Foundation's former CEO Anand Shah have been nominated to the advisory board, it said.

The trust registration of the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Emergency Situations Relief Fund (PM CARES Fund) was done on March 27, 2020 in New Delhi under the Registration Act 1908. Donations or donations made in this fund are completely tax free. According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), PM Modi said that with the participation of new trustees and advisors,the working of this fund will get a comprehensive view.
He said that his vast experience in public life would give more impetus in making this fund more responsive to various public needs.
It is worth mentioning that while giving information in a statement issued by the audit recently, it was told that the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief Fund, created to deal with emergencies like Kovid-19 epidemic, increased almost three times in the financial year 2020-21.
this amount increased to Rs 10,990 crore, while the amount spent from this fund increased to Rs 3,976 crore. This also included an amount of over Rs 1,000 crore for migrant welfare and over Rs 1,392 crore for the purchase of Kovid vaccines.
